Life Skills Development

Development of daily

living and life skills

Astara Wellness provides life skills development supports to help participants build practical skills for everyday living, independence and confidence.

Learn everyday skills at your own pace

Life skills development is about building real, practical capabilities for everyday living - cooking, budgeting, communication, travel, self-care and more. At Astara Wellness, we work alongside participants to develop the skills that genuinely increase independence and quality of life.

We take a strengths-based approach starting with what you already know and building from there. Our support is never about doing things for you; it is about building your ability to do them yourself. We celebrate every step forward, no matter how small.

Life skills programs at Astara Wellness are fully individualised. We design each program around your specific goals, learning style and pace because no two people learn the same way, and no two people have the same vision for their independence.

Frequently asked questions

  • This varies greatly from person to person and skill to skill. We work at your pace and focus on sustainable, lasting progress. Some skills are built over weeks; others over months. What matters is that the learning sticks and leads to real independence.

  • Absolutely. Programs are built entirely around your goals - not a standard curriculum. We start with what matters most to you and adjust as your priorities evolve over time.

  • We offer both individual and small group life skills programs depending on your preference and NDIS plan. Some participants find group settings motivating and social; others prefer the focused attention of one-on-one support. We can also transition between formats as your confidence grows.

  • That's completely understandable and very common. We adapt our teaching approach to your individual learning style - visual, hands-on, repetitive practice, verbal instruction or a combination. There's no one right way to learn, and we'll find what works for you.
