Our Team
The people behind your support
At Astara Wellness, our team is our greatest asset. Every person who works with us shares a genuine commitment to making a real difference - not because it's a job, but because it matters.
"We hire for heart and train for skill."
Every Astara team member is chosen for their values first.
We look for people who are warm, reliable, culturally aware and genuinely committed to person-centred support - then we invest in their training, growth and wellbeing so they can do their best work for you.
WHO WE ARE
A team built on shared values
Our team is made up of dedicated support workers, community care professionals and coordinators who bring a wide range of skills, backgrounds and lived experiences to their roles. What unites us is a shared belief - that every person deserves support that is respectful, personalised and genuinely helpful.
We are proud to have a diverse team that reflects the communities we serve. We actively recruit people with cultural and linguistic diversity, lived experience of disability, and a passion for community inclusion - because great support comes from people who truly understand and respect the people they work with.
Values-led hiring
We recruit for compassion, integrity and commitment to person-centred care above all else.
Diverse by design
Our team reflects the cultural, linguistic and lived diversity of the communities we support.
Always growing
Continuous professional development keeps our team at the forefront of best practice.
WHAT WE BRING
What every Astara team member brings to you
Before joining our team, every person is assessed not just on qualifications - but on the qualities that make a genuine difference to the people we support.
-

Genuine compassion
We care deeply about the people we support - not just completing tasks, but about your wellbeing, dignity and goals.
-

Person-centred approach
Your preferences, goals and choices guide everything we do. We follow your lead - always.
-

Cultural awareness
Our team is trained to recognise and respect cultural differences, so support feels safe and relevant for everyone.
-

We listen first. Our team is trained in accessible, plain-language communication and keeps you informed.
-

Commitment to growth
We invest in ongoing learning so our team always reflects best practice in disability support.
SAFETY FIRST

- Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) — ACT registration required for all team members.
- National Police Check — completed prior to commencement and renewed regularly.
- Professional reference checks — thorough verification for every new hire.
- Right to work verification — confirmed for all employees and contractors.
Pre-employment screening
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module — completed before commencing any participant-facing role.
- First Aid & CPR — current certification maintained by all direct support staff.
- Manual handling — where relevant to the participant's support needs.
- Infection control — including up-to-date training in safe hygiene practices.
- Safeguarding & mandatory reporting — all staff trained to identify and respond to abuse and neglect.
Mandatory qualifications & training
All screening and training requirements are maintained in accordance with the NDIS Practice Standards, the NDIS Code of Conduct and the NDIS Worker Screening Act 2020. Records are kept current and audited regularly.
